PODpourri: Olympics, MLB/Twins, Covid/Vikings

Zach and I have a lot to talk about so we decided to sit down for another hour jam session about the Olympics and whether or not the USA has it all wrong when it comes to the games. We talk about the unlikability scale of this year's team when it comes to Basketball, Soccer, Golf etc. We then take on the Simone Biles story and try to find some nuance to a tough story. For the record, we both like Biles and think she is the greatest of all time but maybe putting GOAT on your leotard opens up to criticism? We Then talk baseball and specifically the Twins and the moves they made and the moves they didn't make. We finally shift to the kerfuffle in Minnesota with the Vikings and the fickle mistress known as Covid. So much to do. Enjoy

PODpourri: College Football, Aaron Rodgers, NFL Covid, Deshaun Watson

The band is officially back together for another season of football. Ryan and Zach join me for a little college football realignment talk. The bombshell dropped by Texas and Oklahoma has set the dominos in motion and we speculate how it will all turn out. We then go straight to an owner to break down the latest on Aaron Rodgers with the off season drama finally drawing to a close. NFL players and COVID are at odds for the second straight season. This time it's over the vaccine and finally we talk Deshaun Watson reporting to camp with trade demands and criminal sexual assault complaints against him. Usually not a strong position to negotiate from. Enjoy

PGA Preview: 3M Open/Open Recap

The tour is in our backyard this week and we are giddy about it here at the pod. Ty and I make our plans to be at TPC Twin Cities bright and early Thursday. We also touch on our own progress in our games. Things are trending upward for us this year. We also recap The Open where Collin Morikawa was sensational and Bryson Dechambeau was an idiot. The Open Championship Preview

Ty and I are back discussing the final major of the season. We talk about the golf course and guys we like for this week on the links at Royal St. Georges. We are going full blast into an American classic. "When Harry Met Sally" starring Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan from 1989. Lauren, Ryan and myself discuss the nuanced performance of the leads while also showing an appreciation for the brilliance of Rob Reiner. We hit our usual categories including a lengthy discussion over the legendary scene that makes Lauren uncomfortable. So much ground to cover and so little time. Enjoy.

PGA Preview: John Deere Classic, The Match Recap

Troy Merritt came within an eyelash of a win last week in Detroit. We took a moment to celebrate in his accomplishment of locking up his card for next year. We then discussed "The Match" in Beautiful Montana which made Ty and I want to go to Big Sky pretty badly. We then got into the controversy of Bryson's caddie conundrum and Phil's media misfire and finally we exercised our rematch clause with The Scumbags (Tony & Tyler) and laid down the gauntlet for this Saturday. PGA Preview Pod: Tim Merritt, Rocket Mortgage Classic

We had our first guest on the pod as former PGA tour caddie Tim Merritt dropped by to talk about his time looping the bag for his brother Troy. He spills the tea on his favorite courses and experiences and some of his least favorite. Super fun time and then after we shift to the Rocket Mortgage Classic where Ty and I make our picks and try to handicap the field. We also sent our love to Nelly Korda for her impressive win at the Women's PGA. It's a full show.

Peak Cinema: Tremors

It's Kevin Bacon time on the podcast. Lauren, Ryan and I break down the film that revived Kevin Bacon's career. The classic "Tremors" from 1990.  We clearly love Bacon but it's Michael Gross fresh off of "Family Ties" and Freaking Reba McEntire that elicits the most intrigue from the panel.  We go through all the usual categories along with some new ones. This pod might actually be longer than the film itself but who cares it's fun anyways.
